Just like a new couple should not expect to change each other, you should not attribute new behaviors to your ex-spouse.
If she didn’t actively parent in the past, she probably won’t start now. If he refused to let your son have friends over in the past, he could continue that behavior.
Your parenting styles are more likely to get further apart, not closer together, as time passes after the divorce. Don’t let wishful thinking guide your decision making.
If you settle for low placement now (or insist on placement yourself that doesn’t benefit the children), everyone will lose and another court battle may loom in your future.
